From the Aleutians to the North Slope to the Panhandle, from prehistoric times to the present, the Alaska Museum of Science & Nature takes young and old alike on a learning adventure around the state. AKSCI fills a special need for science education in Alaska, focusing exclusively on Alaska’s unique geological, cultural, and ecological history.

With the assistance of local businesses and private individuals, the Alaska Museum of Science and Natural History opened its doors in a shopping mall in Eagle River 1994, exhibiting a varied collection of wildlife and prehistoric exhibits. Since then, the Museum has obtained its own building, amassed a world -class collection, and created an exciting and interactive learning experience. From the outset, the museum has energetically pursued its mission, developing and promoting educational programs that benefit the visiting public, as well as enriching the curricula of schools and universities in Alaska.
