Volunteer Opportunities at AKSCI
Thank you for your interest in serving as a Museum Volunteer. We hope your experiences here will enrich your life while benefiting the Museum and our community!

Getting Started:
Fill out a volunteer application with a current email address.
The volunteer coordinator will review application and get back to you shortly.

Exciting volunteer opportunities await you and your talents:

  • Front Desk/Gift Shop: Greet and orient visitors, operate a cash register. Other projects during slower times.
  • Exhibit research and installation: Creative work, bringing natural history to life in the museum.
  • Education: Assist in class tours and other educational programs
  • Programming and Event Outreach: Help develop and produce outreach programs
  • Administrative Tasks: Lend a hand with mailings, typing, filing, and other tasks.
  • Fundraising
  • Janitorial/Maintenance: Help keep the museum tidy and running smoothly.

Exciting volunteer opportunities await you and your talents:

The Museum offers a variety of volunteer opportunities from behind the scenes to working with the public! Some of our opportunities require a regular schedule while many are on-call depending on activity needs. In general, for regular schedule positions we require a minimum of two shifts per month, 3 hours each shift. For on-call positions you should expect to volunteer for about four hours at least once per month depending on the type of volunteer position.

We are happy to train you and are flexible with scheduling. Most volunteers work one or two half days per month.

Here are some of the things that are happening at the museum, and we could always use a hand:

  • Field Trip Tours
  • Outreach Programs
  • Administrative/Office
  • Fundraising Events
This form is currently undergoing maintenance. Please try again later.
