Hadrosaur

This juvenile duck-billed dinosaur is a primitive hadrosaur and one of the oldest known examples in the world. This fossil is unusual because it was found in rocks that were deposited on an ancient seafloor. The dinosaur was named Lizzie after the daughter of Virginia May who discovered the bones in 1994 in the Talkeetna Mountains. A bone map of Lizzie is found on the main Alaskan Dinosaurs and Marine Reptiles page. The darkened bones have been identified to date. (Age: Turonian)
