The woolly mammoth stood as much as 12 feet at
the shoulder and ate 400 pounds of sedge and grasses
each day. Possessing great bulk and formidable
tusks, the mammoth reserved the right of way to
the best pastures. It is a mystery as to whether
or not the hunters of Broken Mammoth every saw
living mammoths: ancient ivory bearing tuskers
already may have become extinct. However, the
people used mammoth ivory for making tools.
